How much tile do I need?
Measure once, order once. Here’s the simple way to work out quantities.
1. Measure each area
Multiply length by width (in metres) for each floor or wall. For walls, subtract large openings like windows and doors.
2. Add them up
Total all the areas tiled with the same tile. That’s your net area in m².
3. Allow for cuts
Add 10% for straight layouts, 15% for diagonal, herringbone or patterned layouts. Natural stone and handmade tiles may need a little more.
4. Round up to full boxes
Divide by the coverage per box (listed on each product) and round up. Keep one spare box for future repairs.
Example: a 2.4 m × 1.8 m bathroom floor is 4.32 m². Add 10% and you need 4.75 m². With boxes of 1.44 m², that’s 3.3 boxes, so order 4.
